Mobile Age UK partner, Lancaster Uni, develops new app against loneliness of elderly people
- Created: 14 January 2018

Loneliness and isolation affect thousands of elderly people across the Border area. Now a group of older people in Kendal have been helping researchers at the University of Lancaster pioneer an app that is aimed at getting them out and about.
So can technology help the elderly stay connected in the real world? The Mobile Age UK part of the project, focused on the South Lakeland area, will deal with complex social issues like isolation, exclusion and access to services. Professor Niall Hayes from Lancaster University is leading the UK research. Charlotte Briere-Edney, TV reporter and presenter working at ITV Border, had an interesting interview on this issue with Prof. Hayes.
