The 5th Informed Cities Forum is organised together by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability,Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development, and DRIFT, on behalf of all partners of theARTS project consortium.

Building on the discussions held this year in Rotterdam, the 2016 edition will address some of the most pressing questions when it comes to urban sustainability transitions:

    • How to increase the pace of change and yet leave no one behind?
    • How to find (and keep!) allies and where to look for them?
    • How to bridge different worldviews and deal with conflicts?

Taking place on the 16th June, the European Commission are organising jointly with the Council of Europe, AGE Platform Europe and the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) a high-level conference to raise awareness of elder abuse in Europe. Marking World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the event will promote a better understanding of the abuse and neglect of older persons by drawing attention to this escalating human rights challenge.

The overall purpose is to highlight to policymakers, civil society actors, health and social care professionals, researchers, human rights bodies and local/regional authorities how inequalities, stereotypes and the lack of a rights-based approach in the provision of health and long-term care increase the risk of maltreatment and neglect of older persons. To achieve these aims, existing legal and policy frameworks will be considered to identify good practices, and the delivery of effective responses to tackle elder abuse will be addressed.
