- Created: 21 April 2016

The Institute for Information Management Bremen (ifib) is a not-for-profit research institute at the University of Bremen. Our main research focus is on the organisation, management and use of information technologies in public administrations, in schools and universities as well as in other not for-profit organisations.
The scope of our work comprises the development of information systems starting from user needs, intra- and inter-organisational IT- and change management as well as user-centered evaluation. We have a high research profile in media and ICT literacy as well as in egovernment research. Particularly, we have conducted several large-scale international studies on open government data and e-participation. We adopt an interdisciplinary qualitative and quantitative research approach with high emphasis on the contexts in which IT has to be embedded. We also combine research and research transfer as we are convinced that relevant insights into socio-technical and organisational challenges can only be gained if researchers can also assume an active role in their projects.
